Clement Select Barrel Rhum Agricole

Oh sweet, sweet agricole. If you think that rum is that spiced, sweet stuff you drank in college, you are far from the truth, my friend. Rhum agricole is one of the few spirits that can really evoke a terroir and this rhum is funky, fruity and complex. Martinique is one of the few D.O.C. for spirits that exist (D.O.C. is why Champagne can only come from the Champagne region of France). Martinqiue is known for their amazing Rhum agricoles which is different in that it’s distilled from pressed sugar cane juice vs. any sugar making by-product. Clement is one of oldest distilleries with estate owned sugar cane.

This particular expression is wonderfully unique in that you get agricole funk, sweet ripe banana and a finish that reminds one of some of the finest bourbon with cinnamon, toffee and vanilla. It lingers on the palate and the oak influence continues, driving towards leather and cocoa. This is certainly a sipping rum but could definitely stand up in a Mai Tai or a Rhum Old Fashioned. Get on the agricole train... it’ll take you on a journey you never knew you wanted to go on, but are thanking the sweet rum gods you did!
